Wait....A cop that practices what he preaches?!? I should buy you a drink sir! er, wait, would that be considered bribery?

I can't count the number State Troopers, Sheriffs, local cops around here that don't follow the laws: speeding w/o lights/siren going, no headlights on in bad weather requiring windshield wipers, talking on cell phones while driving, u-turns that almost cause accidents, flip on lights just to run a right light/stop sign, etc. Really makes you wonder why they're supposed to be an example for everyone to look to.

haha...every dept has those guys...but...im not one of them...refer back to the religion thread and my speech on morality :D

i dont think itd count as bribery, though i think they told us in ethics class we're not supposed to accept anything of value because of our status

the state has some law about it and i think the fine is in the $10K range...OUCH

while i have been known to pull some dangerous stunts while in the patrol car...theyve all been in pursuit of law enforcment and done with the proper lights/sirens etc and with due concern for the nearby citizen's safety...my safety on the other hand...haha

as far as talking on the cell phone...state law doesnt prohibit it YET...but our policy takes some issue with it...we're not supposed to talk on our personal cell phones while driving, but if we have a dept issued phone then you can talk on it...

i honestly like to think that my department, along with the new and improved SCHP actually upholds a standard that we are no different than anyone else

case in point...a few weeks ago i wrecked my patrol car...i cant tell you exactly what happened because honestly...i dont know...i didnt stop in time though i had my pedal to the floor...and slammed into the back of someone...because of a conflict of interest my dept cant work the wreck...the SCHP had to work the collision...i was issued a ticket which i have to pay and will add points to my license...i am being held accountable for the damages by my own department...does it suck? sure...but even though i have blue lights in my car doesnt exclude me from obeying the law as well
