Where are you getting the stats that the stock spring is 700lb? I find that hard to believe.

I agree that the shock valving contributes to stiffness / ride quality. But I also think the spring rate plays a part. That said, I’m just a garage tinkerer and not a suspension guru.

Here is my logic: Won’t a spring with a 700 lb. spring rate be harder to compress than a spring with a 650 lb. spring rate? Won’t the spring that’s harder to compress result in a stiffer ride (assuming all other variables remain unchanged)?

That is an easy way to look at it. To determine what spring rate you should run you really need to look at how far the spring compresses under load. It is not wise to run a 700lb spring if you don’t have the weight to justify it. It can result in your shock topping out more easily because of the force pushing down.

Looks great! Preload is not bad at all. What size tires you running?

I forgot which thread it was, but a company measured the stock springs in their compression and it came out to 713 lbs. keep in mind the 3rd gen Tacoma’s front end weighs more than the 2nd gen by 300lbs stock.

Technically but preload, spring construction (hardness) and how the coils are spaced comes into config. Not all springs are the same. Those 590# I ran were considerably stiffer than these sweet eibach 700# I Toruń now. Granted there is about 2000+ miles that broke them in nicely

Are you running 650s? What kind of weight do you have up front? How much preload?

I’m digin it. Went out this morning to do some coyote hunting and I like it. It feels really planted especially when you get it up to speed in the dirt. It is firm on the streets.

Have you adjusted the clickers at all? What are you running them at on road?

I have them at the softest setting. They are valved with additional weight in mind though- my guess is once I add the camper and camping supplies it will ride different.

I’ll post before and after photos of ride heights. I am probably gonna keep about an inch of rake but I will let you know what I get for measurements and everything.
