I would guess the airflow restriction from that mesh, even when brand new, would be much more than from a lifetime of accumulated bugs. Still, if a fella is a little OCD, and likes a clean radiator, I’m not going to knock it.

Myself, if I had that mesh, and saw it covered in dust and bugs, I’d feel that I had to clean it. In my case, with all the little moths and wasps jammed way into the fins of my rad.....I take one quick look......say “fuck-it”.......and then close the hood and get on with my life.

I've had to pull off the road going through a locust swarm. Still no problem with bugs in a radiator.

Guessing may not be accurate. Perhaps read about the properties and application of the honeycomb nomex material.

I like to add some protection for the radiator just because. I hate seeing folded over fins or bugs smashed into the rad but that's just me. The holes in the chromie grille just seem so gigantic to me. I just used some metal screen, could even use plastic screen-door screen, used that on my last truck. Its not perfect but just gives me some peace of mind and a different grille look.

The only zombies here are the dead bugs in my rad, and they are coming for all of us, if they could ever get themselves un-wedged.

You may be ok in Canada, but if you are ever down south in warm/extreme climates, watch your temps. That mesh looks to be pretty fine/tight knit.

More than once, in the Dakotas on the Interstate, bugs became so intense that it necessitated exit and high pressure wash. At first it was funny, oh gee, it sounds like rain. The windshield wipers could not maintain, headlights were dimmed and I became concerned about cooling.
