Went to go install an aftermarket pioneer deck into my stock 2003 tacoma regular cab. Had the factory radio in it, and it had never been changed before. I took it all apart, and first wanted to test the new deck to make sure i had all the connections right. I got all my install stuff from crutchfield and i had to the proper diagrams and wires connected.

I twisted to wires together for the test run, hooked up the battery, new radio turns on, but every time i hit a button on it, it just powers off.

+ and - wires touched together, i hear a zap. I break it all down, now factory radio and dome light both don't work.

    I need some help... suggestions?

Too many to list. See build page. Link in signature
it is either (a) a band ground issue or (b) more than likely a bad fuse. A bad fuse means no accessory power but the fuse probably didn't pop all the way and is getting a very tiny power arc in the fuse. That's why it turns on but dies as soon as you press a button. This can cause major damage to your electrical. Find and replace fuse and double check you have a solid ground. Both should be fixed. It either your 'radio' fuse or 'accessory' fuse or both
