Ok, I have a question. And I am sorry if this has been discussed before. For about the last few weeks, my factory stereo has been going bat crap crazy. It will turn itself off, come back on go off again. Today on my way home from work, it died completely but the display was lit up showing what could best be described as alien letters. When I stopped to pick my daughter up at daycare and restarted the truck, everything was fine.

I am taking it to the dealer next week but was just wondering if anyone else has had this issue?

Yep. It is a known issue but my local dealer is telling me since is it outside of the 36,000 mile warranty, they won't replace it. I'm beyond pissed.

Mine did the same thing earlier this year. Took it in and they replaced it under warranty.

If mine hadn't been replaced under warranty I would have done this. The stock stereo and speakers are crap.

I understand what you're saying but if it is out of the bumper to bumper warranty (beyond 36k) then you really don't have a complaint. I would be upset also but if you knew what the warranty covered known issue or not.

Mine is doing this. Random, so I never know if it's going to turn itself on or not. Makes it very difficult to diagnose.

Should I call the dealer, or is there a fix?
