For the record, I think you win... Vice grips for roll up windows on an old Chev pick-up have served a useful purpose in my life though.

I'm at the brother-in-law's house, they have 2 Rav4s, I should switch knobs.

Haha I wouldn’t have continued without your vice grip post so, idk it’s a win win!! Majority of my childhood my dads f150 had a chunk of stair railing cut to a few inches with a hole in back for a replacement shift knob..

Agreed. I was hoping to see they fixed it for the Taco but nope. Same cheap crap.

Let’s all call Toyota customer service and complain about the cheap fragile knobs. Especially third gen owners.

Update - dealer took care of the replacement. The odd thing, though, they had a pending diagnostic charge of $225, if Toyota rejected the claim. I tried to explain the knob fell apart on my hands and their nothing to diagnose. Didn't help. I told him to move forward with the claim and of course they made me wait and hour and half. It would have been a 4th of July repeat, if Toyota said no...

My radio knob just failed in the exact same fashion. Minor inconvenience but I literally just got my first oil change at the dealership two days ago so I wish it would’ve broken last week to save me another trip. 2024 Limited. Just over 10k miles.

Guessing Toyota is not applying any “islands of strength” Dejima technology process on its knobs these days…

Anyway, at least they look pretty cool.

It’s a designed weak point to protect your fingers from an accidental discharge of rotational energy….

It's outright disgraceful!!! $50k vehicle with an upgraded audio system. The dealer told me it was common on the Tundras and now the Tacoma. What bugs me is that Toyo is repeating it's failure --- pitiful!!!

It's all a ploy to make us sound like we want touch screens controlling everything. "But this is what you wanted! You complained constantly about broken knobs!"

Are you talking to the right person? Because I don't think you're talking to the right person. I'm a conspiracy theorist, not a victim blamer..

I was replying to the post flow - assuming it was a reply to mine. There are also "quotes" which read kinda peculiar without referencing someone. If not, then my bad.

Result of the ‘earth friendly’ product theory that we all asked for, and the words ‘self decomposed’ meaning is being abused!
