Are you using blue tooth audio from your phone?

Un-pair the phone and re-pair it, and problem solved.

No bluetooth when it acts up, but when I do have it hooked to bluetooth it works great.

Mine acted up 2 day I got it. Took it to the dealership they updated the radio & didn’t help. I unpaired then paired it again it did the same. I then called apple they cleared the phone (pain!!) it worked for 1 month then started again. My 17 4Runner did the same after getting the iPhone 11. I think it is a apple problem but no expert. Beyond frustrated

Aftermarket head unit, factory units are made as cheap as possible to get the job done.

Yeah I'm thinking an aftermarket unit if it keeps doing it for sure.
