Well, after being kindly provided a file to update the software on my radio, I can confirm that my truck didn't have a radio reboot on my drive home in the rain today. Thank you!

So to clarify, you only did a software update and not a firmware update?

Correct. I updated the software from 01017D to 010189 and it seems to have fixed the issue for me. I have a short commute to work and back so it is possible the problem will reappear later after more miles but given my experience the last two days, I think it is solved.

Hope it worked for you - please keep us posted.
From what I understand the firmware update was the one that was supposed to fix the issue.
I still can't find any rhyme or reason to when mine reboots.

It was raining when I went to dinner last night and the radio did not reboot. Today it is not raining and the radio did not reboot on my way to work. The software update seems to have fixed the problem for me.

Was it updated while in the rain or dry?

I was in my parking garage at work while I installed the update, if that is what you are asking. I haven't had a reboot since I performed the update.

I was able to acquire a digital file, load it onto a jump drive and then plug it into the USB port on my truck with the truck running. Once there, I went into settings and told it to update. Took about 5 minutes to load. Saved me a trip to the dealer, which I'm thankful for as life is a little busy right now.

Where did you acquire the digital file?

I noticed that right after I left the bay. I stopped to look at it and the time popped up. So far the time has come up each time I started it. So far.

1 week short of 1 year of ownership and this is suddenly a thing for me now. ~10 restarts in 40 minutes of driving this morning. Guess I'm headed to the dealer tomorrow for an update.

well, Its raining its ass off here this morning. I turned off recirculate and tried different modes since it rebooted on a day that it was raining a lot. It didn't reboot once. Im hopeful that the software update fixed it but not confident. It seems if moisture was the cause, I don't understand how software would fix that.

step one is always verify what the current software version is. if its not 010161 or 010189, chances are you're going to have rebooting issues.
a lot of people missed the release because they had their vehicles in the shop before the TSB revision/update was released, or before dealers realized it was updated. october 14th was the update to the latest firmware.

for shit and giggles: another update was released for the Fujitsu 10 radios today. 2016/17 Rav4, primarily.(no tacomas)
