Since you mentioned that you've never attached a phone, you likely have old software. Before I took delivery, the salesman paired my phone and the truck updated software for a good 15 minutes.

de-badged, tint front windows, led interior lights, door sill protectors, led b/up lights, 5" factory step rails, yellow turn signal bulbs, added 4 D ring tie downs. Took off the black vinyl stripes between the doors. Changed the grill - from Custom Car Grills, Finally got a tonneau cover put on. 31" light bar ( white & amber ), tailgate light bar, sunvisor covers ( to hide warning labels ), new bedside decals - still too cold to put them on tho. Flag decals to go on too, again too cold still. Got a 2 switch, switch plate to replace that useless cubby hole to the left of the steering wheel.. still to be installed ( hopefully this weekend ). Upgraded the tires to G/Y Duratracs... loving them, no plowing the driveway !!
Thank you, next time I'm at the dealership, I will have them check for updates.

When I picked my truck up and turned on Entune the system automatically updated the software. You should not have to go to the dealer for that

    He doesn't have a phone.

You may consider having a friend with a phone pair to your truck and pull down the updates. As mentioned, they come over the air.

Both updated software in head unit and with Iphone which is paired up with system but nothing plugged into usb ports and still head unit locks up! This a crock for the amount Toyota charges for this crummy Entune system. You should be able to pair this head unit up with any Iphone or Android phone with updated or not software in the head unit or phone with no problems. Don't have any of these issues with Honda, they seem to know how to do it so why can't Toyota?

Found this TSB from August 10, 2016 while in the Toyota TIS website.

Some 2016 model year applicable vehicles equipped with Entune™ Audio (version 01013E) / Entune™ Audio Plus (version 010156 or 01015C) / Entune™ Premium Audio (version 010171 or 010170 or 01017D) may exhibit one or more of the following conditions:
 Head unit rebooting at a specific location.
     Abnormal destination search operation.
 Rebooting caused by no songs on the USB connected iPhone.
 One time reboot after ACC-ON.
 Audio stays muted after the key is cycled.

PS: I cannot download the file: "Calibration Access

Thanks! I'm sure there are Tacco owners who will be very appreciative of this information. Sadly for me I have some of the symptoms the TSB listed but not the head unit that is covered by this bulletin. Maybe in the future I'll get lucky with a software update from Toyota and until then I guess I just suffer.

Mine has had zero problems since resolving the issue of too many contacts on the phone. I'm of the opinion that usually when the rebooting happens, its due to the fact that there is something screwy with the phone causing the problem.

Mine re-booted this morning. No phone connected. Didn't have it with me this morning. Music started playing for a second or so and then re-booted. No rain, radio was on XM 70's station, and on the Home screen. I have a Galaxy S5 and I know it's 'updated' from Entune once since I got the Taco in late March. I'll get the dealer to do the TSB next time I go in. Thanks for including it in the thread.

Could be the connectors on the back of the unit. If the wires aren't seated well in the connectors they may need to be repinned. This was a problem with my 17'. Right front speaker didn't work and the connector had to be repinned. This same connector can cause continuous reboot if the wires aren't seated well.

Well I went in for a few fixes. They topped off my trans fluid. They didn't give me an exact amount. And when they got to my radio they were able to replicate issue of rebooting. They are ordering me a new one.

That sounds like a loose connection somewhere. Have you pulled the stereo to upgrade it or anything? I think I'd start by reseating connectors. If you haven't touched it, bring it to the dealer and tell them it resets when you hit a bump.

@hooembevo no I haven't even touched it. I will next time I'm due for service. Just wanted to see if anyone else had the same problem.

I talked with a tech yesterday, there is a software update for the rebooting issue.

My problem, which isn't rebooting, is an issue with the connectors. Possibly internal, that's causing my right front speaker to work/not work at times.

Has anyone gone in to have the dealer do the firmware update that's supposed to fix this yet? Or found another fix for it?

Look at post #89, there is a TSB and update of the software on 'some' of the head units but unfortunately mine wasn't listed.

Found it kind of amusing since after reporting the problem, again, of my head unit locking up on boot up with Toyota Corporate boys and telling them to report this information to my local service department because I had already scheduled to take the Tacco in for its 5K check up. That after two hours of twiddling my thumbs at the dealership the mechanic makes his grand entrance and announces to me that they did a software update! Really, I thought but I wasn't going to argue that as far as I know my head unit wasn't included in this latest TSB. So this rocket scientist then tells me to run the head unit for at least two days unpaired with my iphone (they unlinked it with the supposed software update) then to re-pair my phone with the head unit. He then stated to me if it locks up unpaired I have a defective head unit and if it locks up again with my phone paired the problem is with my phone. Right away I could see it would get me no where to try to explain to this Einstein that the radio head unit locks up when it first comes at the first splash screen which is before it has time for the Bluetooth to link up and pair with the head unit! To me Toyota is playing this silly pointing the finger game of its your phone which is total BS! I have to return a follow up phone call I received from the Corporate boy so it will be interesting to here him stammer while coming up with some absurd answer to this problem. Then again who knows maybe Toyota did come out with a software fix in the last two weeks but sure haven't found any TSB listing my head unit. The game goes on....:(
