Radio Replacement?

Well in the past 3 months my radio has rebooted on its own about 4 times. Today the volume goes out and maybe back in or not, I can make the volume come back by just moving the volume knob, the touch screen May or not respond. Hopefully someone can reccomend an upgrade if I’m gonna have to replace it, and hopefully one that want break me $ wise.

Not an upgrade but if you want a direct replacement, I have my one from my 2019. Never had an issue with it.

I’m hopeing to get one with the nav apps like car play or android auto, but it the price discourages me I might consider, what ya take for it?

Tacosupremo19 what did you upgrade to?

TA2016 I will check the fuse but even tho I have had the reboot it’s not the issue now
I replaced my nav sd card a while back with the most recent one

Sort of. I got a 3.0 unit from a Sienna and I upgraded the software myself to get Carplay. I created a thread about it.

On those units, that was all that is available. No Android Auto. I think I spent $275 on the stereo and $175 on the harnesses you need to put a 3.0 unit into a 2.0 equipped. You can get a 2020+ unit for a Tacoma, which will get you AA & CP but people are asking $800 plus unless you can possibly get one from a junkyard or one of those online wreckers. Will still probably be 500+. Only advantages to the OEM upgrade is you keep ALL your center instrument cluster info.

 

You could go with something aftermarket and get the android auto and Apple car play very easily. I would recommend Crutchfield for that. They can get you all the adapters and things to make everything work like it was stock even the steering wheel controls.

I've used them every time I wanted an aftermarket stereo in every car since I was a teenager. They are a good company with good quality stuff, customer service and tech support.

 

Do you have the navigation that's on the microSD card? If so, go to GPS Update Store online and buy the latest microSD for the Tacoma. The ones you get from Ebay, Amazon sometimes don't work very long before they start acting up (I believe they're programmed that way)...ask me how I know...
