    Spy;

My apology, I should have advised to use the instructions in the PDF file, but instead of pressing "Sat" button, press the "Disc Aux" button until you are on the Ipod mode. This should work, good luck.

As far as satellite radio; you need to purchase and activate a satellite tuner.

That's exactly what I tried and I it didn't do work for me. As I said above, the instructions specify models TOYSC1 and HONSC1. Mine (base single-CD model) is model AD1807. At least that's the number near where it says "TOYOTA" in that center area between all the buttons on the radio.

This seems to be part of the initiation to owning a 2009. My dealer has ordered 2X and still hasn't produced a radio. Mine is behaving for now, but will need to be replaced. Seems to be fine since winter hit. Any correlation to the cold? I don't really want a swap out with another radio with the same problem. When are they going to recall the POS and do it right?

thank for the reply. i tried it again and still no luck. i pressed the discaux button until i could hear what the mp3 player was playing. i then hit the code and no audible change in the volume. i tried the code several times at different speeds. bummer. i was really hoping that would work.

Same problem here guys. I'm on my second radio and I still have the problem with the unit switching on and off. What's worse is it seems to be triggered by going around corners and turning the lights on and off. The corners might be caused by a loose connection, but the being triggered by the lights seems like a deeper problem with the electrical.

Thank you for the tip, BPachom. Unfortunately I had no success either in using the instructions you posted. What's funny is that the radio in my truck is also the stock, single disc CD, AM/FM. Go figure.

My replacement radio has been on back-order since the beginning of Sept. 09. I've documented the issue via email just in case of warranty suprises which, I'm told, wont happen. Other than that I'm pretty happy with the rice-rocket.

SAme here folks. Had mine replaced twice so far and now the service dude says that they will need to take mine out and send it in for repair! That is absurd, I emailed Toyota corperate here in USA. The service guy also said that I will have a hole for 4-7 weeks. We should all contact Toyota USA and place a complaint. I seen earlier that a member here said he was gonna get a lawyer, I wonder how that went.

Volume issues: MP3 players do not provide "Line Out" signal. They provide low amplifed signal enough to drive a set of ear buds or low power headphones. The "Line In" jack on the radio is working correctly. If you plug in a device that provides true "Line Out" signal, the volume is more than sufficient and equivilant to AM/FM stations signals.

My radio has been replaced once already (volume refused to change). Now, it shuts off on it's own, the volume sometimes doesn't work, and I've also noticed that it changes frequency all by itself and refuses to allow you to adjust. I was listening to 1020 AM when the station disappeard. The display read 1010. When I tried to change it with the knob, it refused to change. Fortunately the station button worked.

I'll be calling over there in the next few days.

I disagree. It's labeled "Aux. Input", not "Line In" - and it's marketed as a way to play your iPod through the factory stereo. A task which it fails miserably doing. Also, I'd wager that the signal coming from my iPod headphone jack with the volume cranked wide open is stronger than a "Line Out" signal anyway. Ever accidentally plugged your headphones into a "Line Out" jack? It's not very loud.

09 Radio Problems. Now I have them after 4 months. Turns on the CD player by it's self, changes stations on it own, and volume goes up/down on it's own. Took it to the dealer two weeks ago and ask them to order me a replacement. I am crossing my fingers that the new one will fix the problem. I have read this thread entirely and am a little afraid of what to expect. I have my fingers crossed. I am a little worried I will just get someone else's used/repaired radio and I will have a different set of problems. Oh well, I gotta do this drill at least one time (and maybe more) since the truck is in warranty.

I was having alot of issues with mine, I removed it to install another headunit, which I ended up not installing, and after reinstalling mine I haven't had a single issue with it. It used to shut itself off all the time, and display crazy graphics on the read out. I'm not saying it's a connection issue, but I haven't had a single problem in over 4 months. I just ensured that everything had a good connection and threw it back in.

I had this problem happen a few times on my 2010. What I found is that I rest my left thumb on the steering wheel next to the mode button. I found I was accidentally holding down the mode button which turns the unit off. It hasn't happened since I've consciously stopped doing that.

Update...I called to confirm my appt. for Sat. to install the new Radio. They said they did not order one. They want their tech to check for any loose wiring before they order on. So I guess this will cost me two trips to the dealership before I get another radio...or they will find a loose wire.

How are these replacement radios holding up? 2010 built in Aug 09 and had the radio flip out on me for the first time last night. Wouldn't stop shutting off until I restarted the truck. I hate the stock deck but it keeps me from being broken into(live in city). An amp ads enough to the system, but with the deck shutting of randomly that doesn't help.

I figured I would ask if they fixed the manufacturing issues before I go to dealer to deal with replacement.

    Thanks guys.
