Radio shuts itself off!

mine was replaced almost a year ago and no issues yet.

 

Looking for some clarification since I am planning to up to a 09 + radio for a couple of reasons.

Can some people that have had problems please chime in as to which model you had problems with.

Non Jbl single disc
Non Jbl six disc
JBL since disc
Jbl six disc

Any help is appreciated.

 

Mine was the stock radio TRD 4x4 crewcab Non JBL and was replaced in November of 2009 and i hade no issues with it after that.Toyota backed the problem to my satisfaction. I replaced the entire unit later and installed a Naviogation system. I have the stock radio , and Wonder what its worth?? any thoughts on that???

lol, mine does this as well, been dealing with this for the last year. does it about onces a month. no big deal, i am going to upgrade in the near future.

 

my radio has turned itself off three times since I bought it in January. Yesterday, it abruptly shut off and reset all my presets in the process. It was like I disconnected the battery. If it happens again, I'll be bring it to Toyota.

 

I'm my 09' taco the radio display goes haywire if it's in the heat and sunlight like the display is all digitized jumbilation haha which is sometimes fixed with a nice tap on the dash :/.. it also quits playing Once in a great while and ejects all the CDs which is super annoying considering I have the 6 disc cd changer!! So it's been awhile since anyone posted here did everyone fix their issues or did they just deal with it like I have since 09' just posting now bc when The display goes crazy the tap on the dash doesn't work.. Any advice will help

 

Don't tell us you bought this new and didn't have it looked at.

 

I hope you brought it in.... Get it replaced. There is no reason to wait. It's not going to fix itself.

I had the same issue , The Dealer ordered a new Radio for me and installed it , that was back in 2009 , I hope you still under the warrenty . at the time mine was. These radios were dfective right out of factory and Toyota seem to know about it before hand , yet they chose not to recall them all.

 

My truck's radio started to have similar issues to what some of the people described. At first the SAT, FM, and even CD audio had static. Within 10min of noticing the static sound, the audio ceased. The volume value on the display would not change when turning the knob or using the steering wheel control. I was able to see the stations changed as I pressed other buttons. The next morning, the same thing happen. Now this evening, no audio at all when I turn the radio on and audio stuck at single value (11).

I have an appointment to take it into the dealer tomorrow morning. We'll see what they have to say.

I have a 2010 with the 6 disc JBL audio system.

 

Common situation. Shouldn't be an issue.

 

You were right. They took the radio number and got a new one ordered. Will have to wait about a week to get the new one shipped and installed.

 

So they went to go replace my radio with a new one and they said the replacement had the same issue. The radio was stuck at a single volume value with no audio playing. They are going to order another one and try again.

UPDATE: Just to follow up in case anyone else runs into this issue. It was the AMP that was causing the problem. Once that was replaced everything was good again!
