I dont normally have the radio on, but I was driving with someone who wanted to listen to the radio on a drive from Los Angeles to San Diego. Fair enough.

But it sounded like crap for most of the ride. Many times throughout the drive it sounded exactly like an old cd player when it skipped. Is this due to the HD Radio cutting in and out or another issue?

I'm sure others will have experienced this if it is normal. I was really surprised at the quality since LA to SD isn't exactly backcountry/middle of nowhere driving.

If your HD Radio tuner loses the station's digital signal, it will automatically switch over to the analog signal broadcast at the same frequency. There may be a slight break in the sound when this happens. When the tuner is back in range of your station's HD Radio signal, it will automatically go back to the digital broadcast.

Mine does that if the broadcasting station does not have their regular and HD signal timing lined up and I am far enough away that it keeps going from HD to normal. I will just turn off the HD and problem solved.

How do you turn off the HD radio? I looked through the settings and could not see where it could be turned off.

Obviously, the problem is because the radios are under-filled from the factory.

Thank you all! I've been having this issue also and some days it's really annoying. Turned my HD option off, hopefully that will fix the issue!

Sometimes my USB input will just stop playing audio. It’s random I have to restart the truck to have it work
