Yes I’ve noticed rear speakers nowadays get little power. Basically new vehicles standard operating procedure, it may vary vehicle to vehicle, brand to brand. YMMV. It’s an opportunity to upgrade the HU and speakers.

Toyota uses super cheap made speakers and the rear doors are the worst. I could buy better speakers for $20 at Wally world in the 80's than what came stock in my 22 Tacoma. There are several threads on speaker upgrades here. I replaced my door speakers with Kicker speakers for not too much money. Welcome to Tacoma World.

    a bit over-dramatic there.

considering i've been collecting speakers for well over 25 years, $20 walmart speakers still sucked, and they were much worse-built than the oem speakers. they were really just heavier due to the difference in magnet technology used. oem is a self-shielding neodymium design which has an extremely high magnetic-flux-per-ounce ratio, where you're comparing it to the older ferrite magnet iterations that needed to be oversized because of their extremely low flux-per-POUND ratio. the build quality of the oem speakers is on par with $50-100 budget speakers nowadays, the composite frame is actually leap years ahead of many budget speakers.

overall, i had more issues with the factory eq than i ever had with the speakers.

I already upgraded speakers to Kickers but the sound is still terrible. The front speakers sound better but back still nothing is it the wiring to the back speakers?

Assuming you are running the OEM HU. My guess is the new rear speakers are not efficient enough for the limited power going to the rear.

Might want to replace the factory speaker wiring with a larger gauge. Removing the door paneling and installing dyno-mat on door will make the difference.

not putting out "any sound" or "very weak"?
    There's a difference.
    no sound- something wrong
very little- as designed, and as mentioned, you will need a different HU

very normal, that is the way the HU was designed, so you will need a new one if you wish to pump more sound to your rear passengers.
