Mine does it randomly. No rhyme or reason. Turning the pickup off and on seems to be my only fix. Just an FYI, it doesn't bother me.

Toyota needs to update the Entune system to fix this bug. I will try to remove the quick contacts, luckily voice recognition is better than my WRX's, and I shouldn't need them. In the WRX, I would say "call dad" and it would say "Calling Elliot" lol.

I did not because my phone connects fine, post #6 is the process to follow if your phone does not connect.....I was just chiming in on this thread because in my particular case the text were working but stopped, I still get the notification that I got a text but all I can do is ignore the text, the option for the radio to read my text is gone.

It's also the steps to remove the quick connects. I removed my quick connects (as recommended here) and it seems to have solved my issue. When I receive a text it gives me the read option again.

Removing quick contacts from the screen usually resolves this issue. You can keep the three panel system, just add weather or something else in place of the quick contacts. Additionally, delete your phone and re-pair it with the system. This has worked for me and a few others. If it still doesn't work, I would check your iPhone and make sure notifications are set to on and the Toyota EnTune system is has permissions. As a final option, reset the entire system to factory default and go from there. If you don't know how to do that and don't want to deal with finding the menu, just pull a battery terminal and reconnect.

Therein lies a problem.....sorta.....I do consider myself computer literate, its my living but finding where Quick Contracts is listed on the radio for #5 has been hard to say the least. :)))

Only had my truck for a few weeks, but if I'm not mistaken, "Add Quick Contact" is what the button said when the space was empty without a assigned contact. Even though I'm not experiencing this issue, I looked for a actual setting to remove them, and there isn't, I'd just assume you just probably press the contact button for a second or two and choose delete or something to that effect.

If you have Quick Contacts (QCs) assigned, you will see them when you use a three panel display, as long as one of the three panels is assigned to "Phone". If no QCs are assigned, you will see some boxes labeled "Add Quick Contact" in the "phone" area of the three panel display. The 2 or 3 panel display selections are found by touching the gear symbol on the home screen, selecting "display," and then selecting two or three panel display. To see the QCs, assign one of the panels to "phone".

I am 99% sure that when you "forget this device" on your phone, and ALSO remove the phone connection from your head unit (AS OUTLINED IN POST #6), any previously assigned Quick Contacts (as well as your address book) are erased from the head unit. Do not re-assign QCs.

The three panel display does not inherently cause the problem. I have tested this thoroughly on my truck. The second I use quick contacts, a few reboots later it starts screwing up. I've been running the 3 panel using weather as the third bottom left panel since owning the truck. Also, when was the last time you performed a software update on the Entune system? I occasionally asks but sometimes you have to go in and manually check. As long as your Entune system is connected via your mobile phone app it should pull the update when you check.

Just wanted to post up my results. I was having the same issues as others above. Just now over lunch did as suggested. Unpaired and repaired my phone to the truck. This time I did not enter in quick contacts. Placed the weather app on the home screen. All is now good! Entune reading text messages to my iPhone as advertised.

The only time my non-Etune (Canadian version) truck read the text messages to me was on the drive home from the dealership. Then it randomly stopped giving the 'read' option. Thanks to this thread I now know why. Absolutely ridiculous reason, but I'll be nuking my quick contacts the next time I'm in the truck.

Wasn't able to do #5 but when I did #6 and added my phone back to the system everything has been working flawlessly all weekend! YEA!
Thanks for the advice and it was a simple process to follow and if and when it starts to act up again I will simply delete my phone and add it back.

That worked for me. I set it so that I only see Audio and Nav. I then removed my cell completely and re-paired to the truck. All good now. Really like this feature. If my phone is plugged in for charge (as it usually is), I use Siri by voice to reply hands free.

The part that fixed your issue was removing your phone and re-adding it, that worked for me too in the end.....and it is nice when it all works!
