new to the site. ive used it for years and decided to try it out as a member. any help would be appreciated.
im trying to find out if i can upgrade my radio to a newer factory radio. i know the radios looked the same for quite a few years and im wondering if any of them will work in my 1997 tacoma. i used to have a 2002 tacoma that had the factory cd/tape player and thats kinda what i would like to have. ive also noticed that even 4 runners and maybe camerys also have them. if it matters my radio now is the one with the compartment under neath it. just trying to find out which one would interchange if they even would thanks

From what i hear, and this is mainly people with 05-08 or something going up to the 12 and up ones with touch screens, yes it is possible but its a lot of dickin around and the newer ones still arent that great. in your 1st gen i cant say if any other decks would work, and you didnt say which one you want. Yes they look cool and entune seems appealing and all, but theyre still a stock HU at the end of the day.

Save yourself a lot of headache and get a pioneer NEX 4000. theyre like $650, but youll spend close to that if not more trying to upgrade to another factory radio. And even if it was cheaper, you wouldnt like it as much.

Thanks but I really like that style of radio because I'm not that big on aftermarket radios. A buddy of mine has one from a tundra and it looks like it would fit but I would like to know for sure. It's just 50 bucks. So if any one knows I would appreciate it.
