Trying to find out if my stock radio can be switch with a similar stock radio with Nav. Not sure if wiring is the same of if other harness are needed. Mine radio is 86140-0409 to the JBL 8614-04060. Like the stock look and don't want to go the aftermarket if I can help it. Not to sure about wiring and thought they might sell a wiring harness kit.

As Arthur said I think you'll be good, where you're going with another OEM unit that your run of the truck was sold with. But definitely confirm re the process he explained.

My wife's 2014 Rav4 has the basic radio and there are several spare plugs in that part of the harness that aren't used by hers, my surmise is it's for Nav or similar goodies if she had that radio

I don't think that radio has nav. The navigation radios had the SD card slot in the lower right of the radio. Also the radio above has an internal amplifier, the radio below has an external amp.

It's nuts that the radio you linked costs $3500! Is it made from Unobtainium or carved out of a solid gold bar?

You might be better off with an aftermarket head unit, more features and for sure compatible. What do you not like about the look of them? The install can be pretty subtle if that's what you want

You can't put a JBL radio in a non-JBL truck and vice versa but you can put a Nav radio in a non Nav truck as long as the connectors match.

I swapped mine with a used one with Nav out of a 14 Sequoia.

Thx for all your support. Toyota Parts Deal.com states that it will fit but I know that there is no GPS antenna with my unit. Wondering if there is a harness or some other kind of adapter that I need. The connection on the back of the radio are different.. Toyota page just says that it will fit I'm thinking size wise. Doesn't say anything about hook up. Here are the back of both radios. Mine 0.pngScreenshot 2024-09-16 at 12.54.03 AM.png

Not sure on the GPS antenna, mine already had it. I believe there's a module you can get if your truck doesn't have it.

I do know JBL and non JBL radios will not interchange because the amp is external on the JBL radios.

Going and looking at the wiring diagrams it looks like Nav only came with the JBL radio in 13, in 14 it was available with and without JBL but it was a pretty rare option in Tacoma's

Yup, the non Nav for my wife's 2014 Rav4 is about $1700 for a refurbished one. What pisses me off is it has the same common issues everyone else with that vehicle in that year range tells me, touch screen and the Bluetooth mike on calls craps out. I'm trying to push her to get an aftermarket instead for far less than that price.
