So no warning signs or any hard cranking or anything like that

I was driving down the interstate today (approx 25 mi trip) and about halfway thru, the radio turned itself off and would not turn back on. I also noticed the clock seemed very dim on the right side. I arrived at my apartment, parked the truck and turned it off. I immediately turned it back on (but no crank) and the radio worked again so i turned it off and went inside. Came back out a couple hours later to go to dinner and the truck didnt want to crank and never did, but eventually made the tell-tell rapid click of a dead battery. no big deal right? wrong. I went BACK out a couple more hours later and the truck cranked right up long enough for me to back it into my spot so I can work on it if need be.

Is my alternator shot? any other ideas? No other issues that i've noticed or see/hear

As odd as this may sound clean your battery terminals, I thought I had a starter going out once but it was actually my terminals were dirty and corroded

I would think if it was the alternator it would affect the way the motor was running along with the radio and clock not working properly, but maybe it's just on the fritz

When I had my alternator die in another car, it did the exact same thing as you are experiencing. It started back and completely drained my battery two days later.

Is your 2009 alternator a Toyota brand?

    unfortunately no

I had to scramble and buy an autozone one or something back in 09 because we were out on the trail when it went out and autozone was the only place within 100 miles that was open and had one in stock...

Yeah I'm stumped hopefully someone will chime in... But maybe it wouldn't hurt to test the alternator just in case

get a voltmeter and check the voltage on the battery. it should read 12-12.5 if it's fully charged. while running, it should be close to 14V. or take your battery and/or alternator to you local parts store to get it tested.

check both reading and the results will tell you which parts is bad.

Eh, see my Build Thread sig link. Too many mods to list.
    I'd guess alternator too.

TLDR version: I was cruising down the freeway in my Corolla one Christmas Eve on my way to my parents' house when the check engine light came on. Being far from home and not being mechanically inclined, I continued on. After a while my headlights slowly dimmed until they went out and I was driving in near darkness. I decided the prudent thing to do was to take the next exit. I found a gas station with a payphone (long before mass market cell phones), parked my car and called my dad. I tried to start the car and it was a dead Jose'. Luckily McD's was still open so I waited there for an hour for my dad to arrive. The following Monday morning we hit Schucks and picked up a new alternator. Luckily it was a 10 minute swap as it was on top of the engine in my Corolla. Jumped it and it fired right up. Let it idle for 20 minutes, turned it off, and there was enough charge again to start under it's own power.

So, yeah. Alternator in my experience.

Hitch and wiring, aux back-up light, rear strobe lights, radio and underseat sub.
Check your grounds. They are notorious for causing weird problems like that. Check the voltage drop on your battery cables as well. A high drop indicates a bad cable/connection.
