Besides the drivers being a better quality, the amp is more powerful and of a higher quality, I think it is limited to some audio adjustments/EQ stuff. Cleaner power to the speakers = better sound. You can have the best speakers in the world but if they are being driven by a shitty amp they will sound like crap. You can have some crap speakers, drive them with a quality amp and notice a huge improvement in sound quality. That being said, I have never heard a JBL Tacoma system, so they may be not much better than the regular system.

The JBL system has a sub woofer behind the rear seat.
I can vibrate the rear view mirror if I crank it up.

I’ve put a system into every car I’ve owned. I have the JBL, and it sounded decent—not as good as an aftermarket system, but decent for not having to replace everything. I ultimately replaced the head unit, and the speakers and amp/sub sound better. The JBL also shakes the door panels a lot bc there’s no crossover (high pass filter) like with a quality aftermarket unit. The crossover mostly takes care of that, but I still plan to put in some Kilmat and baffles.
