well it rained in Oregon this morning, hard to believe isn’t it. I drove my truck with the nitto’s and hit the brakes hard and it stopped fast, no skiding. Drove like normal on wet roads. Very happy with the way they handle and look.164FFF0A-2A1A-4FBF-A73E-E3B31649BB2E.jpg

Still liking the grapplers? I live in Washington and just purchased a set. Drove with them maybe 500 miles. It's been fairly dry here but finally getting some rain. I notice they slip a little when i take off from a complete stop.

Slip? Don’t think I’ve head that. I’ve been thinking of upgrading to these as well

I have a set of these and I haven't noticed a "slip" on take-off from a complete stop

Yeah man, as you probably already know we get quite a bit of rain here in Washington State lol. I know it's a truck and i expect a little tire slippage in the rain but as i was pulling out of my street and on to a main street the tires spun out quite a bit i had to ease up on the gas. Maybe i have a heavy foot? I like the look of the tires and they are quiet on the street. Drove on a forest road with some light snow and they handled well.

in SE TN and NW GA, we had a long dry spell followed by rain... There's always a lot of oil on the roads when that happens... I did get some slippage from the Grapplers in those conditions, but no worse than any other tire on a RWD vehicle. I sort of enjoy breaking the rear end loose in the wet, after years of driving Subarus that would basically never spin a wheel in any condition other than snow.

Loving the Grapplers after about 5K miles, and they are better in the rain than the stock tires... I think the rubber is much better quality and stickier than the Goodyears, which were worn out after 35K (lots of gravel road miles).

That could be it since the rain has been hit and miss. We'll see how they workout when we finally get that Washington rain to wash the roads lol.

Hahaha...my mistake, I was assuming you were talking about the slip on a dry road.

At 500 miles, it's possible there is still mold release present.

Thanks for the info. Just searched and read that it may still be on the tires for up to 500 miles.

been debating going 285/70/17 nitto ridge grapplers or BFG K02's, these are 30-35$ per tire cheaper and i like the way they look. these are my next tires. Got piece of crap Pathfinder AT 285/70/17's on now that came with the truck.

I had Nitto Ridge Grapplers (285/70/17s C load) on my truck and was not a fan. Wet traction was bad, traction in general was bad. At 7k miles, they had started chunking off (I did off road them regularly). I liked that the tires were light and how well they rode. Very quiet too.

Not impressed and would not buy again.
