I am a new owner of a 2009 Tacoma 4x4 and noticed my floor mats on the passengers side wet after a heavy rain storm. Anyone have any remedy's to start looking for?

On the outside of your truck where the cowl meets the windshield. That seal might be bad.

Is it possible the rubber door seal has gone bad and water is leaking in from the door hinge, is there water on the inner door, passenger seat or is is isolated to the floor?

You can remove the glove box and check the cabin air filter and blower motor area. Above that is the space where water maybe getting past the windshield seal on the outside. Antenna has a gromit to the outside on the passenger side as well. There are even videos of people finding tiny cracks in the cabin in that corner and sealing them up. I believe I saw one about a month ago up here . Good luck!

These guys are probably on to something, check your door seal just to be safe though.

Do you have a sun roof? Drain may be clogged.

FWIW, my 07 does that in extremely rare situations. I have knock-off Weathertech mats and what little water is getting through collects in the mat. I just pull the mat out and pour the water out. Carpet never gets wet. And we're only talking about a few spoons full of water.

But it only happens once or twice a year and I haven't found a pattern nor have I been able to duplicate it.

I had a frustrating 2 weeks figuring where my leak came from.
I found my leak from two missing grommets, one for the AC drain line that goes to the firewall/engine bay, another was underneath the floor liner.

    If you have the patience.
I would pull the floor liner to:
    A- dry them
B- find the source (a garden hose or pressure washer and a friend will be needed).

The way I found my source was to
1: pull the glove box out.
2: pull both passenger foot well trim pieces. (If you are sitting in the passenger seat, it would be where your right foot would be, and the plastic trim that goes to the B pillar)
3: pull/peel the floor liner use a brick or something to lift the floor liner off the sheet metal, and a binder clip to stop the damm floor liner from flopping back.
4: have friend hose down each section while you stick both your head to see and your hand to feel if there is any leaks.
4a: start low first. Under the body/frame, Wheel well, Fire Wall, Plastic cowl thing (below windshield), wind shield, A-pillar, antenna mount, roof etc.

(I will take photos during the day tomorrow of said trim pieces)

    possible sources:
    • AM/FM Antenna
    • Cabin Air intake cowl plastic thing
    • Engine bay/fire wall grommets
    • Windshield.
    • For some reason a guy posted here a leak coming from the welds of the firewall and a upper panel above the fire wall where the AC intake plastic cowl is at.

DO NOT spray water directly into the Cabin air intake. Near by it is the blower and next to that is the ECM.

Would there be something to use as a sealant for this spot?

I recently had to remove my windshield cowl plastic piece. Rained while it was off, I had a tarp over it, Hood was off, and I got a bunch of water thru there. I put it back together but it doesn't sit quite flush anymore. I didn't notice a sealant when I pulled it off. It hasn't leaked again yet but it hasn't rained like it did that weekend either. Thanks

    I am a big fan of marine 5200 adhesive/sealant.

But, i didn't have any when I went to seal, so i used a can of flexseal... Probably won't last too long.

Found it ... previous owner had aftermarket fog lamps and they drilled a hole in the cowl with no grommet and the rain water flowing into the cab
