The Fuck... the guy is trying to make his trucks engine more powerful. When did that become a shitty thing to do among gear heads? Honda civics? S2000s? This is a damn Tacoma forum...

Beleive it or not, the 5vz is a sturdy engine with architecture that has potential... I mean it was made by the same company that makes the 2jz and 2uz-fe...

Many modded engines have the piston speed at 3500 ft/min. Many race engines are around 4000 ft/min. Fully built nascar, and F1 engines are a little higher. That being said, at the 5500 RPM redline of the 5vz engine, the pistons are traveling 2959 ft/min. Bumping it to 6000 RPM brings that speed to 3228 ft/min, which is just a bit lower than many modded engines with decently built internals. SO...given the math, it seems the 5500 RPM redline is right on par with where it should be at, as most manufactures stray with piston speeds of 3000 ft/min.

I think you need to worry about floating the valves before anything in the lower end when it comes to high RPM no?
