Those of you with a 3rd gen 4runner, can I see the tools you have that you use to drop the spare? Mine didn't come with the tools, and my Tacoma tools wont fit.

having replaced both front hub bearings on my junk this last weekend, its amazing the sounds our vehicles gradually develop over time that we are oblivious too.

i THOUGHT the Tacoma was reasonably quiet as it was, but now it is even more so (road surface dependent) and i can hear "other" noises now that i haven't heard due to the "silent roar" of the old bearings. new rotors and pads helped with that too i suppose.

Gracias senor. Looks like I'm missing that long one. I'm guessing that's the one you put in the hole and move around to make things happen?

just long crank handle and the hook that thumb screws to the end.

i see no reason why you couldn't use the Tacoma set, the hook appears to be the same as the Runners, just has multiple extension pieces. and the crank fits to the extensions.

i suppose i should work both of them and try to mix match, just to see. i had a hook end made by a blacksmith years ago with a socket welded to the end so i could use a ratchet or breaker bar ( this was for my '85 Runner that was missing the hook for lowering the spare, i still have the hook, so i guess that Runner is still missing one..., where ever the Runner is now )

grow a pair, go out to the shed (take a flashlight, its dark, there may be spiders) find the bag, open the bag, see what you have to work with. work out the problem, from the sounds of it you haven't really got a clue what you have, just guessing about what you think you have and whining about how it might not work.

Solve the problem ! life is hard, harder if you don't try !

    @David Loflin

you're having a series of issues here lately. several folks have worked to help you with these issues, one thing we've noticed is your reluctance to fix these issues without others assistance.

Yer broke, i get it, i live there too. Its time to figure out the cheapest most effective way to fix your problem(s)

First, go get your spare down, cut the fucking cable if you have too. Yes, it's a 245 and the rest of your tires are 265, the truck doesn't care and your ABS is already FUBAR for the time being. it will get you mobile.

Bearing hubs. NEW bearings are $45-$100 on Amazon pick a pair, the nut for the back of the hub flange is $14 get 2, the seal for the front of the bearing is $15 get 2, the o rings are probably salvageable, or get 2, I have a press and I will buy the tool to torque the bearing properly ($25). push old bearings apart and press your existing flanges into the bearings. Even the ABS sensor is reasonably cheap.

Will I do it for you ? NO, but I will walk you thru it provide the tools make smart ass comments and eat the pizza you bring with you (my fee)

You're gonna ask me now why I didn't do this for my own junk ? Because I had 2 vehicles go down at the same time, the Runner was a beast PITA to do, I didn't want to fight the Tacoma too, it was easier for me to get the prebuilt ones and worth it for ME. couldn't really afford not to go this route.

But I also told you why I wanted to keep the old flanges. To do this exact thing on MY schedule and leisure as/if needed in the future.

Yes, i'm a grumpy old sarcastic SOB, but i will help where help is needed, but you have to be willing to help yourself. i will not fix your truck for you, i will walk you thru it, explain what needs explaining.

    you got options, step up

Final Picture of mine before surgery. Talked them into installing my 884's + 5100's and rear Progressive AAL for free! Took a little bit of back and forth with
the service manager but they agreed that I saved them more than the cost of the install by not using their loaner vehicle for 5 1/2 months (Only had their Corolla for 1 1/2 months)
I'm pumped about getting rid of the Bro Lean its been bothering me ever since they had to take off the rear lift when Leith replaced my rear leaf springs in February.
