Did some poking around and found a post on another forum from a while back claiming they rode the power line trails off 55 in Apex almost down to Sanford. Still accurate?

Also, whats the deal with the random trails off in the woods near Shearon Harris? Anything worth almost taking a stray bullet to the side of the truck for?

But might have to wait till fall.. Trails should be over grown, dangers and pitfalls can not be seen.. plus, snakes, ticks and just animals... oh my

I live in the perfect spot. 3 hours from URE.. 3 hours from Windrock..and 1 hour 45 minutes from Gulches

 

Power easements are private property. If you get discovered you will be charged with trespassing , simple as that. I worked for power utilities for years and saw people get nailed lots of times. and with new security regs there are lots of cameras.
Can you get away with it? Sure. 1000's of miles of power transfer lines. You could follow them from sub to sub on the grid, find yourself in Cali. It's not legal though.

Trails by the nuke plant? Awe hell no. First those guards are armed and train regularly. Second it is a target site, if you are in the wrong place you can be charged with conspiracy just cuz you have a camera or 2.

We did find some construction trails near walmart in youngsville. Sometimes they care, sometimes they don't. They usually care when the kids come and make noise that the locals can't ignore.

2 hours to Uwharrie from Raleigh. 5$ and drive all day. Camp if you like. Easy enough for stock. Challenging enough to break anything. Rinse on the boat ramp or swim if you like. Good Day.

Question for the Uwharrie guys. I've haven't made it out that way yet, but was thinking about this weekend or the next. Are there areas I can just roll in without a reservation, or hike from my truck and throw down a tent? I thought that some National Forest areas were legal to camp off of the trails without a specific called out site?
