I had the 255/85/16 on my taco and loved that tire. Maxxis was still making the bighorn in that size so they were super cheap too. Don’t think you can find them anymore though.

I’ve toyed with the idea of the 34x10.5 on the Jeep but I think I’ve convinced myself to do 37s when I eventually get regeared

 

Getting there, a little more work today... Waiting for it to dry, then intake goes back on

TSB on motor states to build a dam around rubbers to keep water from ruining knock sensors, the innerweb has two different trains of thought on it, I did both.

 

Got ya I have never done it but then again I wasn't doing them for your purpose. Even then I never saw an issue with water getting under there and causing issues. Looks like smiley faces.

Very common problem on these motors, that's the reason for the TSB

 

I can see that, I never really saw it when I was wrenching for a living though. I never thought that the knock sensors being in those holes was a good idea.

 

The water issue wasn’t from off road use but more operating in driving rain and wet conditions.

The foam pad under the intake was more more of a sponge than anything else. It’s intent was to keep debris from building under intake and act as some what of a noise dampener.

 

I'm a fan of pizza cutters. I've had 33x10.50s and 255/85s on my 1st gen 4runner.


Once I get it back together, and eventually SAS it...I've toyed with the idea of some 255/100s

 

Ya learn something new everyday. Like I said not that it doesn't happen I just never saw it.

 

That tire looks like a pig though! I wouldn't mind the height at all... time to research!

 

Those look like tires for medium duty trucks and are probably like a G load range?

Also probably weigh over 100 lbs each! They look like a knock off of a goodyr tire that dump trucks and such use and are the big truck version of the duratracs

 

I’ve seen them in Michelin, but they’d definitely be very heavy.

I wish there were other streetable options, taller than 34s. A of mine used to run 36x9.50 swampers, but again not fun for the streets.

I just looked up the 255/100...

Real deal runs nearly 700 a tire. Chinese knockoffs run around 300 if you have the balls to trust them lol

They do look awesome though!
