Your assessments are correct, essentially those uniballs are just a heim joint and they can be noisy and harsh if all you have are those joints on your suspension.

Also Icon is making an UCA like the JBA with a more articulated ball joint. If you just put a standard Chevy ball joint in the JBA like a trail repair you'll loose articulation kinda like running stock UCA, but you'll get home and on the cheap. The SPC or LR doesn't have nearly the articulation in the ball joint as the JBA or Icon.

Some people have experienced noise like you did with the uniball some have not. Now since those style joints are a descendant from racing and now moving to the street IMO they are not the best choice for the street for 2 reasons.

1)Longevity of life they will not last as long as a ball joint and are exposed to the elements with no boots protecting them from dirt and debris.
2)Can be noisy, and you cannot add grease or anything to quiet them.

    Just my $.02

If I were to do it all over again, JBA wold get my $$. not many shops will mess with the adjustability of the SPC LR UCAs. heck, I have thought about buying JBA, and then selling mines. newish ballpoints on top. JBA, std or HD ? I think Std is fine for what we do.

    1. How will you loose articulation she it’s what he’s putting in the jba

2 my spc have the same amount of articulation as the tc. Or at least the suspension on out trucks max out befor the ball joints so

if I were to do it agian

    front
5100 with 886 coils and superbumps, JBA standard duty arms

    rear
All pro expo pack, or dakker HD pack, extended billies to match, superbumps, extended break lines.

similar to what i have now, it works, for me

Might save a few buck off the $2Gs but superbumps arent cheap, and an often overlooked component.

So the JBA uses a cut and clearanced ball joint, copied us round track racers we have been doing that for decades. A standard chevy balljoint won't flex that far. The uniballs depending on a lot of factors don't really have any more articulation than a standard balljoint. SPC doesn't use a clearanced ball joint it does have more articulation than a standard joint just not as much as a JBA or Icon.

Now you are correct the LCA and the balljoint there and shocks are out limiting factor for droop. So you'll never use them to their full advantage.

I don't think you'll be getting All-pros anytime but from what I heard they were really good. That is a really good set up. I agree 100% on the superbumps, but 58 bucks for the front stops and a rear u-bolt flip with bumps for 132 doesn't seem to bad to me. Are you thinking timbrens that are like 200 bucks just for the front bumps?

@voz You can get the wheelers U-bolt flip with the bumps as a package for 132+shipping but what Jimbo posted is a really good set up and you could get 33s under your truck!

Soooooo many choices and ways to go I also suggested the TRD kit earlier.

The extended brake lines are a good safety measure and insurance!
