You ever do any of the long trails. I plan on doing the AT for my 40th. Been wanting to since I was in the 7th grade. I'm a ground dweller though.

I haven’t done anything as long as the AT. I’ve done several 50 mile trips. Several 8-14 day trips.

Depends on what you consider long. The AT is a beast at points. I did 10 miles on it in January this year. Started at the Nantahala Gorge and climbed out. It was brutal

Got ya. I've done that hike in the past and it is pretty tough. I have done several over 100 mile hikes over 10 day periods. I really like hiking the Linville Gorge area some of those hikes are difficult to say the least. Long to me is the whole AT, PCT, or CDT or section hikes. Also John Muir trail I'd really like to do one day. There is one that covers the Canadian border that is a long trail forget the name but it looks brutal just because of weather goes around the Great Lakes. We take our Scouts every yr and do the 4 state challenge along the AT in a 24 hr period that is a really brutal hike over 40 miles. We have a "chase" vehicle for drop outs and as support. We just hike with food and water and emergency gear. Really fun hike though.

Dayum well you’ve been after it for a while! I’d love to hit the whole AT by 40. I’d love to spend 6 months on trail

Ahhhhhh that’s the big difference. I’m capping myself at about 12-14 per day. I don’t have the knees to go much further than that.

There is a guy in Charlotte that was/is selling his but he's asking 50g. Not a manual but it checks all your other boxes. You're going to have a hard time trying to find those trucks already done. Just find one that you like and SC it yourself.

Umm, no. Especially if it was acquired as a gift.

I have aches and pains as well I just push right on through it. Having a frequent flier plan with the steroid injection man doesn't hurt either! Those have saved me or I'd be in a lot worse shape than I am.
