    @Sandman614 should I just go to a Walmart parking lot or something to tune the SWR on my CB? What's your thoughts on a little shorter antenna?

    Yes to a large open parking lot and park mostly away from cars, the interference from streetlights and cars/building isn't going to be as bad as trees in the woods. A shorter antenna will decrease your range - higher is better, in that location will reflect more of the signal back into the antenna... partly why my subwoofer gives me feedback static, but will give you more tree limb clearance.

    I know center of the vehicle is best but don't really want it there. It came with a quick disconnect also which may or may not be some signal loss through it also it adds like 6" may take that off (said no one ever):anonymous:

    If that is a quarter turn quick disconnect, don’t bother, had one on my old 4Runner with spring mount, the pins worked out and I lost my Firestick somewhere in Uwharrie

    Also, I had hell tuning mine with the spring.. had to take it off to get any significant distance in the mountains.
