I actually am still completely stock. I have the URD long tubes and sims in my garage. I am waiting till my JFR y-pipe is done before putting it all on though. I think I know where you are going with this one. I wonder if they get pissed if you cut it off over the axle dump? I will still need to figure out a draw down from 3” y collector to stock exhaust. It may just be easier to register in another county and forget about it.

I winched my dumpster at work lol. Pulls just fine. Gonna go to Asheville in a couple weeks and hoping to test it out, at least on a steep hill.

Maybe reroute the pipe and make it so you can toss the stock on back on once a year?

:rofl:My pockets ain’t that deep. 265 for a winch is about my speed

Yea what about welding in either a bolt in or clamp in section that you can swap out? Seems like that would be the easiest for you

That exactly what I'm thinking. An exhaust shop could easily do that and then cut you stock system to block back up.

A little of this and a little of that.
I passed in Lee county with URD Y-pipe and exhaust. I put my headers on immediately afterwards :anonymous:

Catback won't fail emissions. The law is as long as the emissions equipment is on the vehicle and "appears" to be in working order it'll pass the visual inspections. When they plug into the OBD2 connector as long as there are no codes and all the drive cycles are complete it'll pass the emissions portion. You can read into the bold and underlined statement as you wish.

I have mine dumping at the axle as long as the exhaust exits outside or behind the passenger compartment then it is fine.
Even using their address you still have to have the emissions equipment on since that is part of the safety inspection is a visual of the emissions equipment to make sure it is on and "appearing" to be in working order. There are ways to read into the grey areas of the law just get creative. Just as an FYI it is a federal offense to take a working cat off a vehicle and not replace it. Also passing a few bucks to an inspector to get them to do a clean scan or pass a vehicle that is completely noticeable of failure isn't worth it as they can be fined tens of thousands of dollars and spend time in jail and at an extreme be charged with a felony.

@ovrlndkull thanks for your explanation. After 27 years of active duty and 13 states, I am pretty familiar with all of that. I did not realize it was just on board diagnostics and readiness codes. I though they were “sniffing” wands like some other states use to measure effectiveness bypassing sims. If no sniffer then they don’t have to crawl up there to place the wand. Looking forward to getting back home getting into western N.C. camping.

My Rover failed Wake county inspection for an exhaust leak, granted the whole vehicle is the passenger area. I already had the appt for the exhaust to be fixed lol.

They will lift it and check underneath so they will be looking for stuff, technically per the law they are required to lift and inspect the underneath of the vehicle. NC did away with the wand almost 20 yrs ago.
