Oh that ain't horrible 6/12 on the house and 12/12 or so on the garage. Damn that builder has a shit ton of vent stacks, geeze. Better floor plan and plumbing planning could of gotten rid of a bunch of those vent stacks.

@Dangerdave would you happen to have a line on any 4 cyl (read as fuel efficient) small SUV type vehicles, like a CR-V or something? My oldest hit a deer and flipped his Durango. That v8 sucked some gas down but that metal cage protected him well. Looking for replacement vehicle now.

Don’t know if the owner is on TW or not. I saw a MGM 3rd gen on Blue Ridge Rd yesterday around 6pm. It was lifted, black wheels, camper shell, TRD Pro grill, amber fog lights. Sharp looking truck!

careful I may take you up on it. How long is the trout season? There are so many rules in the state regarding trout and what time of year when harvesting I get confused. They took away all my flounder this year which sucked.

There isn't a trout "season" its just a 14" minimum 4 per day per person. I personally wont keep anything under 18"... The trout bite has been insane it has been going strong all winter with a nice big healthy class of fish. Flounder season will be Aug 16th - Sep 30th. Its sad they had to do that its not gonna make a hill of beans difference unless Virginia,South Carolina, and Georgia get on board. I'm all for stopping all the gil net bullshit which to me was the main problem. The gil nets used to be insane in Core Sound near my place if you were a flounder trying to head south from Ocracoke to Cape Lookout on the inside theres no way in hell you would make it. Nets EVERYWHERE ... But it seems they overreacted a bit on that one and shut down the recreational stuff too. At the end of the day lets hope it helps recover the Flounder populations to a healthy and sustainable level and hopefully keep the gil nets out of the water.

Biggest one of the year for me right at 23 inches guessing just shy of 5 lbs. I had so much fish in the freezer he got to swim another day.

Beautiful fish. I will definitely be in touch, if nothing else just to get some tips and info. I usually pull my tent trailer down to North Topsail and flounder gig out of Sneads Ferry. I used to put out a 100 yard gill net on the surf with a canoe. I let it soak for about 4 hours then haul it in with a mess of blues, mackerel and others. Enough time to get some good fish but still able to release everything else alive that you didn’t want. They won’t renew my license anymore. Kinda sucks but I get it. Sometimes it just seems more political than anything else, hard to discern.

I was more referring to the commerical guys who were keeping their nets in the water 24/7... If people want to use a net here or there no big deal Ive got a few buddies that used to do it once or twice a year but the commercial guys were the ones over-fishing the flounder and the bycatch was also ridiculous. I used to cruise by some of them at low tide and you could see all sorts of unwanted stuff dead in there. A couple of years back I came up on a juvenile dolphin that was alive and struggling but belly up and you could tell it got caught in a net and got torn up struggling to get free. Two other dolphin were staying close by trying to help but he was done. So sad seeing stuff like that ... that's when I realized just how bad the commercial netting was for the whole ecosystem.

no, I gotcha. I thought they were still allowing commercial flounder harvesting. I hate to see that stuff as well.
