Clutch is a wear item, much like brakes . This would likely considered abuse ( improper inexperienced operation is still abuse) and unless there were previous instance related to clutch you’d have a hard time proving otherwise.

I would have tried. It should wear evenly, or at least a little more evenly than that..

I agree, but car also has 36k which is warranty on most everything without extended, and clutch and brake issues are some of the most denied claims due you abuse and or improper operation

We have all been behind that “new”car with the brake lights that either flicker constantly or never seem to go off because the “driver” is riding the brake or resting foot on pedal (which applies pressure to wheels as well....)

That just seems really shitty. From the looks of it I would say it was a bad install, because that disc shouldn't get cocked sideways that badly

Cocked sideways or clutch chatter so bad the friction material came apart ? If the flywheel and pressure plate had any bluing it got HOT, that’s why I asked about it earlier.
The ability of an inexperienced operator to tear things up in grand fashion while being completely oblivious they are doing so is pretty common.
You should come work in my world, I stopped asking “How the fuck....?” Several years ago, yet am still impressed in some things they manage to do.

I didn’t put eyes on the flywheel or pressure plate so I don’t know. Based on the idiots that drive for me, it was likely operator error.

Speaking as a former dumbass who drove underpowered vehicles that weren't mine, that seemed to only egg on the neutral drops and clutch dumps. I used to think my boss at the time was a raging lunatic for always being in our ass about stuff, but now that I'm older I would have fired 19yr old me like a month into the job lol!!!

This doesn’t look like operator error. I would go to the higher ups at Toyota with pictures and ask what’s up. There is a roasted clutch and then there is a clutch like yours where half of the disk didn’t even make contact with the flywheel.

I'm trying to find a solution to a similar problem and searching the threads to see if anyone came up with a fix. Have you resolved your issue? What did you do? My traction control switch and ABS light is on. Any help appreciated.

where are you located? There was no continuity on driver front sensor wire. Replaced. Then we reset the VSC system manually at the OBD II.

Utah... wanna come out to Moab?

Sorry, but VSC and OBD II is Greek to me. Is the VSC the traction control? (and why called VSC?) And I'm supposing the OBD is some kind of computer?

How do you reset the system at the OBD?

    Thanks for the definitions.

How do you manually reset once you find the bad wire?

you need to find out what your problem is first. His was a broken wire. It could be any number of the nine steps in the factory service manual on almost any of the four wheels. I highly recommend you find a someone with access to a computer that can pull your error codes. This was his problem. I will provide a link to manually reset the yaw and VSC settings but if it doesn’t work then most likely you have a fault in the system preventing it from accepting the new values for a reason. You really need the codes without just shooting in the dark.
