No I think he’s saying it’s some hidden bs that politicians hide in other bills. Maybe I’m wrong but that’s how I interpreted it.

either way this bill is a scary precedent to set for all of us that modify vehicles because it passed with zero empirical data to justify the need to ban it. Donut media did a cool bit on it not long ago that enforced how I already felt about it passing

This. The fact anyone that modifies vehicles supports that legislation is stupid. Did they even have to pass any law anyway with vehicle inspections here? Couldn't they just change what they look for? Yea it looks stupid, but as a community that does nothing but installs non DOT approved parts there should have been a defense of this. One could make the same uneducated safety arguments for my solid axle swap, the coilovers someone swapped on, the big ass winch bumper, the sliders welded to a frame etc.....

    Off my soap box.

As much as I hate the squatted truck look, I don’t think it needs to be outlawed. That’s a slippery slope! It’s a fad, it will run its course and die eventually.

Another thing on the squatted truck law. How will a law enforcement officer who cites one of these trucks be able to testify in court to the “manufacturers’ specifications” of any given vehicle? They don’t have that information available for every vehicle on the road whenever they write that ticket. It would have been much more simple if the bill had language like “the measurement from the top of the tire to the wheel well opening cannot vary by more than “x” inches from from to back”. That would be much easier to enforce.

Or here's an idea we already have inspection law and laws on the books about properly aimed headlights just enforce those and it'll automatically force people to lift them correctly. Here's something else if you see who was pushing the law it was a bunch of information that was not proveable just opinion and a lot of shops that just don't like the look so they wanted to go after them. What the law will end up doing is hurting everyone and is just one step closer to some BS like australia and cali have to deal with. They didn't pay enough attention to everything and it's going to be a detriment to everyone not just the squatted trucks you'll have the police citing all types of lifted vehicles squatted or not.

That’s what I was saying in my previous post. I don’t think it needs to be legislated, That’s a very slippery slope.

An independent shop? Warranty frame replacement? I would suggest your closest dealer.

Probably an independent shop. I got a 4runner and we aren't covered by Toyota for rusted frames. I have another frame, just no lift to do it myself. So I'm looking for anyone who can do it.

Ah gotcha. Don't know a shop right off. We swapped the frame on my dads 67chevy under an awning off a barn.. jacked it up, used ratchet straps, and other redneckary. Not having a lift is just "the easy way out", it makes it easier but it's not needed.

True, I've figured a way to do this on the driveway, but cheat codes always help. Ill start gusseting the frame, wife's accord will be my dd for a while.

Dig into it a little, the visitor center or the usfs website will have all the info you need.
