Figured they'd go fast at that price. Would have got them myself but I already have a set.

sorry I know this is old but I take offense to 2wdr driving like retards. People down here just don't know how to drive in snow. Front wheel drive cars are actually really good in snow (if you know how to drive). I'm originally from Northwest Indiana and it wasn't uncommon to have to drive to work in a foot plus of snow. Down here people with trucks seem to drive like idiots because the have 4x4 but have nothing in their beds to get that extra weight for traction. also I didn't really take offense I just wanted to comment

The main difference between Indiana or other Northern Snow and out rain/sleet/Ice/snow layers is it's not just snow here. The problem is the northern drivers who think they can drive in snow going out and driving on the layers of ice with snow ontop... plus all the other drivers who have to be at work, or think they can drive..

What tim said has been my experience down here too.

too many northerners used to this super dry powder go out and end up causing major wrecks cause they don’t realize that the south doesn’t get snow without decent ice accumulation. Us southerners know when to stay our asses home. Now that doesn’t mean that there aren’t a few of us southern idiots that get out but I’d bet that the percentages are leaning way toward northerners not knowing what they are getting themselves into

I will agree with you on the ice. Ice doesn't care if you have 2wd or 4x4. I remember the 1st year I was down here and the 1st snow. People were pulling off the road or driving 5 mph with their blinkers on and I was like WTF is going on here. It was only like 2" or so that fell (non icey variety). Hadn't realized you only see snow here once or twice a year. at least in this part of the state

I lived right at the tip of Lake Michigan. Can't say we always had super dry powder. Probably got every type of snow you can think of. but yes there are people who think they are invincible and drive like idiots.

At least around Raleigh there is a large population of outsiders too, CARY(Central Area for Relocated Yankees), Floridians, Californians, and with the Tech hub a lot of "Indians"(various Asian countries)

I second @NachoTaco16 about people who think they are invincible/drive like shit [on cheap-bald ass tires]

I go back and forth on 64 between Asheboro/Apex - every time it rains hard, there are at least 2 cars into the fence in the median.. every freaking time

Illinois transplant here: what you are forgetting is up in northern Indiana and Illinois the first snow of the year was always a carnage ridden shit show on the roads. Also why would people in NC or the south have snow driving skills? It rarely snows down here and everything closes anyway. Hell I stay home because people can barely drive in 70* dry and sunny weather here, let alone in any sort of precipitation and I don't want to get hit. I also don't mess with ice, f that.

I will also say when I was commuting up north I usually took my fwd Camry to work when it snowed because my Tacoma SUCKED in the snow despite being 4wd. Mud tires do not work well unless you have 6"+ of snow on the ground.

    Stock for now.. maybe
Yes, this is an older post but that's OK. I guess putting "2wd vehicles" on the spot was a bad call. Most people were driving horribly and I get it, most drivers were out of their element. My first snow/ice driving experience along time ago was in northern Alabama. I kept it slow and cautious. I think I was trying to say in my original post is that people were hauling ass and it was sketching me out being on the road with them. Maybe they were having fun but they could've found a nice big parking lot for that.

I drive alot in Alaska (and other NW states and Canada) where they rarely plow and don't use salt. I'd much rather be on those roads than an icy road

Anyways no offense taken, just a conversation. I was hoping for more snow here in the Burlington area but apparently it was alot better than the year before. I personally went out on some of those storms to go have some fun in the snow but I did that without other traffic around. I enjoyed it alot

Edit- of course there are shitty drivers EVERYWHERE

We got like nothing the year before -

And I too went out after the storms to just practice driving when no/one was really around - since I lived in the south all of my driving life and have little snow driving experience.

Even did some doughnuts in the Taco in an abandon cul/da/sac near me ;) - good times

Hey guys. New to the forum. I’m back and forth between Charlotte and Raleigh some.

Would love to connect with some folks.

Also, Any recommendations in the Raleigh area for wheels/tires, and lift install? Can be separate places

    4WP

I like Discount Tire, their tire certificates cover offroading.

Buy what you like but 4wp has a lot of this (bling.. shiney, sparkley, gaudy)

I second the Discount Tire recommendation.

They have good warranty programs, can get whatever tire I need in a day @ a good price and install just as promptly.

Last trip, I had an appt and was in/out in less than an hour - been to several locations Cary, Holly Springs, and Burlington and all were on point.

Is this a place where you can do your own work but offers tire mounting?
