    The "ORIGINAL" SUV the stigma of being seen in a "station wagon" was cleverly masked by making them 4x4 and based on truck chassis, same damn thing our parents had ( eh...ok, us older folks parents had them )only relabeled to sound cool.

    I've had several station wagons, very useful and practical vehicles, adding 4x4 just made them cooler !

    My mom had one, biggest POS car we ever owned ( well, after the Vega )

    I "aged into" a '73 Pontiac Catalina Safari wagon, in high school, drove it for a couple years before it met a Camaro...broadside on an icy road. bought an '84 Ford Crown Vic "Town and Country" wagon when I moved to NC, was highly disappointed when I couldn't fit a full sheet of plywood in the back with seats down and tail gate up, it was about 6" short. FORD lost a lot of my respect there, the Catalina wagon hauled MANY loads of drywall and plywood with the gate up.

    Then we got married, couple of (1st and 2nd ten) 4Runners and a Honda Accord wagon, usually had a pickup of some sort for hauling duties.

    on my 3rd 4Runner (3rd gen) now, thats my station wagon now, cuz 4x4....
