LOL, I've got 245's on the Runner
    but I might consider that.

I'd love to find a place to get Firestone Destination LE2's without going to a Firestone store ( I don't want to deal with the crap ) I have the LE2's on the Tacoma and they ride well especially in the rain and heard they do pretty well in the snow too

Hey Guys, So I moved back here from CO, hence the name Boulder...And I have learned that NC State Inspection does not like darker tint on my front windows. They are not even that dark, but the guy at the dealership told me I need to go to a different place, because he wouldn't pass me. Any suggestions besides the obvious of ripping off the existing tint!?! I guess I'm looking for a smaller type place that does State Inspection that is a little more "lenient" !?! Thanks for any suggestions.

Well, I'm sure there are places, BUT, telling if those places in an open forum would be a quick way to get them fined and or shut down.
Meet and greets, get to know some folks local to you, they will know, or possibly be able to help.

I will say this, if your windows are obviously over 35% it's a red flag to an inspector who doesn't know you, common tactic of DMV to send one in like that. They DMV officers are pretty humorless, so they send In plants. Could be someone just like you.

Roll your windows down before you go. Most places won't bother rolling them back up...

Yeah, As I was writing it, I thought it does seem stupid to put your name out there doing something non-compliant. So I do understand. I'll check out some smaller shops, and try the window down thing. Worst case, I get the tint removed, but that would stink.
I actually thought of keeping the windows down, but wasn't sure if the inspector is required to check. Is window tint something they are mandated to check?

Technically, yes, but it gets missed OFTEN
I got tagged for it years ago in my '85 Runner, guy was really surprised when I peeled it off right in front of him. Didn't have time for games at that time.

Sitting here getting tires put on my '97 Runner at Discount Tire in Knightdale. So far I'm pretty impressed, no bullshit no upsale shenanigans, asked about tires for my camper, they are an odd size in a high weight rating. They can get the ones I want, no bull shit about availability.
    I'll be back I think.

I've had mostly good experience with Discount Tire. Never tried to sell me anything I didn't want, usually great prices. Will take care of issues that they cause with minimal to light hassle from me.
