    Went to Sheetz today - they got some new gas options. Someone give me the run down on what the difference between 15% ethanol vs the standard 10% ethanol is and any side effects from using the higher one. 15% was 10 cent cheaper and it said "for 2001 model cars and newer." I didn't use it but want to know if I can in the future. They also had a 51% for "flex fuel" only. It was 40 cent cheaper. I think my wife's CRV might be flex but I don't know if I want to run that high of ethanol...

    cheaper in cost, but not mileage wise. Ethanol has less BTU's than gasoline, so less power is produced, thus efficiency is reduced as well.

    your fuel mileage will drop when using any ethanol blend, you're just stuck using 10% in most places. 15% or more will make it worse.

    AND, if your vehicle happens to sit for extended periods in humid weather, you're sucking in that much more water into your fuel system ( alcohol is hygroscopic , meaning it absorbs water ) more alcohol means more absorption or water from the environment.
