Ahh not too quiet. Just was stuck in the North Carolina? Thread and became a little brain dead.

Support Group is a good idea. We all need professional help.

I think Sandman is running low on his meds. He was grumbling something about attacking his truck with a 4" hole saw and had red in his eyes.

Cool Thanks, I'm a gearhead by nature, always building something, and always enjoy working on stuff. Things like a lift are always done better with more ppl. I do have a mig and can weld quite well if you need any metal melted.

Unfortunately no, but I desperately want to be able to because so many things I envision are made of al. I wouldint charge much, just depends on what it is I guess. I've welded up to 1/4" steel with the mig I have although it's ideal maximum thickness is 3/16". I really want a TiG someday, Tig welds look amazinngggg and there is so much you can do with it. I would have to learn though.

I'm trying to make a bedrack to carry my snowboard. Just 2 crossbars with Angle welded on the end of them for bolts to go through. This pic I had them bolted together which did not hold.

Easily doable. If you could get me a basic drawing with heights, and desired materials I'll go ahead and put it together for you.

Thanks!! I've got the crossbars I just gotta get the Angle. The idea has slightly changed from the picture. I'll see if I can draw something up.

I built some last minute out of steel a few weeks ago, but planned on doing another couple of sets out of aluminum.

Well yea that's the idea with the angle putting any weight on top of the bed rail and then bolted to the rail system. I need the crossbars lower or at the same level as the rail system because the snowboard holders are really tall.

That's perfect and then I have some T-slot nuts for the bed rails and i think they are 9/16th bolts. I was thinking one bolt on either side of the crossbar.

That ought to be stout. I know you said that you had some material for the crossbars, but I've got to go pick up a order of steel tomorrow and was going to get some aluminum as well. What were you wanting to use?

What I have is something like 1" Square tube. Got it from Lowes.

Would you prefer square over rectangle or round?

Rectangle or square would be good. The snowboard racks have multiple ways to mount them and I think I may customize something there anyways.
