Honestly I think 7 bucks is worth it to not have to mess with them

 

I got time to sit and mess with it, so buying 100ft and saving $8 works for me. They're easy to make.

Just 2, they should be the same grade 8 SAE and 10.9 is metric

1 set of ropes and 1 set of straps, they come in pairs.

 

Wait there is 10.8 and 10.9? Why do they gotta make bolts confusing?

 

10.9 is way overkill, grade 5 would be fine there, winch is being pulled into bumper front on your application so you're not pulling on those bolts, they just hold winch in place on bumper
the ones you need to be concerned with are the bolts from bumper to frame, those should be no more than grade 5 or 8.8. There are multiple bolts, you want them to stretch (yield) before failure. gives you an opportunity to catch an issue before breaking or damaging frame.
grade 8 and 10.8 are stronger in clamp load but more brittle in shock, they will actually break before they yield ( stretch) enough to notice

 

My father-in-law is on the lookout for a good deal on a 2nd gen 4x4. He currently has a '05 4 banger that needs replacing. He also has a 80s model Dodge Ram but it's on it's last leg. If anyone sees any good deals let me know!
