    One of my drivers hit that low bridge in Durham last week. First truck to hit the bridge since they installed a new warning system ... Video has over 100k views on youtube so far so we are officially VIRAL! Jalopnik also ran a story on it and they get millions of hits per day on that site. Everybody is talking about how dumb the driver is for hitting it with the new warning system. We have cameras in all of our trucks so I have footage from inside the truck. New warning system sucks and it red lighted him when he was 2 blocks away and didnt do anything as he was approaching the bridge. You cant even read the sign or see the flashing lights when it tripped. The guy that runs the youtube channel is offering to pay us for the footage from the truck camera we havent decided if we are going sell it to him or not. At first we said no but now we are thinking it might be beneficial to show this video and show how poorly designed this new warning system is. At the end of the day its still operator error and he should have turned regardless of the new warning system working correctly or not. All of our drivers who have been here for more than a couple of months know about this infamous bridge it just sucks that this guy just moved here and asked the helper who was riding with him if he could make it (big mistake) and the helper says "Yeh man we are good we just went under that bridge the other day" ......

    It comes down to operator knowing how tall his truck is, it's not the helpers job to know.

    There needs to be hanging pipes or similar to hit and not damage so there is an audible warning.
    the responsibility is the operators regardless.
