Rally Armor Urethane Flaps?

After recently tearing off both of my mud flaps (for reasons unknown ) I was wondering if anybody has used Rally Armors Basic Universal Plus Urethane mud flaps. At 12 Inches wide and 15 inches long, it seems like they would provide plenty of coverage if somebody figured out how to securely mount them. And, the red with white logo would look pretty sick on super whites....
At 103 bucks for 4 of them they are a little pricey, but I'm sure if they received enough interest rally armor might sell them in two packs. Or, buy all 4 and sell the other two on here.

I have the plastic ones and they've done well. Decent enough coverage. The oem exhaust tip might melt them though. It warped my plastic right rear.

 

I guess I didnt think about that. How did you mount them? Same bolt holes as stock I presume? Did they make any weird bends since the OEM bolt holes dont sit flush with the little clips on the side that holds them in? If that makes sense

 

I did use the OEM mounting locations plus I think I used one bolt that was sitting there holding the fender liner in for the fronts anyways they do curve a little bit since the mounting surface is not flush like you mentioned however they're pretty flexible material so it didn't have any issue contouring to the body.

 

And did you make it so the side of the mud flap is flush with the fender, or did you go ultra rally and make them stick out a bit from the side?

 

They stick out about an inch or so.

I stuck the same flaps on my wife's wrx, they look pretty mean on there. My friend went with the urethane ones on his, I think they look even better.

 

Bump. What are other peoples thoughts on this?

Yup that looks nice! I might do the red though, red and white is my theme. I guess the smaller ones would look nice too

 

They're working on them, but have been so busy with a lot of R&D. Hopefully soon!

 

Really hope they make a second gen one. Although I'm sure it will be universal

That looks sick, @pinochle! This might be my first post at TacomaWorld (been lurking without an account for a while), and I will use it to ask you: are those flexible enough not to get levered off the truck as soon as a melon-sized rock gives them a dirty look like the OEMs? Thanks much!

 

Well, I pulled the trigger, and I regret it. They don't seem to fit well on my 2023 TRD DCLB. I couldn't manage to get the first one on (front, driver side). The instructions state to remove the "fasteners" at locations 1, 2 and 3. The fasteners at 1 and 2 are screws; the fastener at 3 is a plastic clip. Removing fastener 3 destroys it, leaving a hole with nothing behind it for the screw that came with the kit to bite into. I suspect that it might fit if I hadn't removed that fastener, because (I think, but I don't know) that the screw could then bite into the clip. Can't find those clips at the auto parts store, so I'm gonna have to go to the dealer (yippee!). Also, the L-bracket that goes into location 4 doesn't quite reach the mud flap, and the plastic clip RallyArmor provides to give the screw something to bite into will hold on to the screw as well as plastic holds on to screws, while leaving the point of the screw sticking out and viewable.

I made the mistake of not calling Rally Armor before buying. Their order process has a place to add a note to the order, and I said there to cancel the order if it doesn't fit on a 2023 TRD. Either they don't read those notes, or they deem their instructions and the parts that come with the product 'sufficient'.

Buyer beware.

 

The top section of the flaps are a harder plastic material and the bottom section is UR. If the rock hits past the UR section, there’s less give. But the mounting bolts are pretty strong. I originally had RA universals on my truck. Those are all UR and wouldn’t ever get levered off. But they flexed a lot more during highe speed driving.

 

Sounds like you removed the screw insert at location 3. The fasteners are the screws, but not all trucks have screws at all three spots. If there wasn’t a screw there, you removed the insert that a screw threads into. If you ever need to replace them, you have to compress the clips from behind and push them out.

 

That's what I figured. If anyone else runs into this situation, NAPA carries the OEM insert to replace the one you destroyed (if there is a way to get behind that insert, so as to compress the clips, I couldn't find it). Obvs, the NAPA price is significantly cheaper than at the dealer.

Haven't had a chance to give the install another go yet, as we're still getting back up to temperature from the 70-degree drop we got on Wednesday. Brrrrrr!
