Well, everything was going great until I began tightening everything down.

Between a stripped Allen key head and the nuts coming out of the holes on the back, I realized that the trapped bolts on these can cause some issues. Not only wasn't I able to tighten or loosen anything down, but now I can't get into my dash to do what ever I need to, since these have to be removed first.

I ended up having to drill out the Allen heads to pull the brackets off. If this were on a trail I may have been in some trouble.

Anyways these are out, and although a great idea, the fact that if these are in nothing else can be removed unless these can be removed first.

    Possible things for improvement.
    - torx bolt or something that can't be easily stripped.
-biggest thing is instead of having the nuts pressed into the backing plate, thread the actual backing plate. If that strips out antleast you can still pull the bolt out and not just have it spin in the back.

Also should be noted I dry fitted everything with the radio bezel out of the truck and it all went in fine. Once assembled, in the dash, not so much.

    Understood and appreciate the input.

I think the set you have has the initial pressed in nylocks, I'm not doing those any more and have gone to threaded backing plates. This might resolve your issue but it might not. I'm all ears for improvements as I fully understand and appreciate how hard it is to anticipate all problems / issues.

PM me your address and Ill send you threaded backing plates. I don't want anyone to be unhappy with these.

Happy to hear about the threaded backplates. Totally understand the design concept and hope my feedback was helpful. Wasn't suppose to be negative towards the idea or anything.

    Great customer service right there!

ETA update for the new batch?

You've done quite a job with these!!

While waiting, here is what I plan to mount. On the right, I'll plug iPhone into this:

    IMG_0113.jpg

    IMG_0111.jpg

    IMG_0114.jpg

I'll swap an iPad mount on that side when we use one.

    On the left, my Magellan:

    IMG_0116.jpg

To get the small dogbone to fit in the Magellan cradle, I used a small piece of plastic tubing that I dropped into boiling water for a few seconds so that I could stretch it over the ball. Fits in there snugly!

I wanted these cradles because they both provide power when the devices are plugged in. No cables flopping around.

First of all, thank you all for your patience.

Now for an update, I should be taking 100 sets to ano tomorrow, and will need a day or two after they come back for packaging but I am hoping to be shipping as many of these out as I can this week.

I'm on the list already... but you didn't happen to make extras did you? I have a friend who wants in that you could ship with my order.

I did, trying to get ahead of demand as I rarely have extra time to run them out.

Aux back up lights, Bed lights, Re-located trailer plug, Good dooby, a.k.a. jumper cable mod, Heated seats, back up camera,
The list is on the first page.

Don't we all... No major rush for me tho as I'm waiting on a lower dash panel with switch openings to put in my 06. Heated seats will be nice when the cold weather comes back...:D

3 projects all interwoven... This mount is going to have an iottie qi charging dock hanging off it, so I gotta get a USB cable in there whilst it's apart.

Which charger are you going with?, I have been puzzling over this trying to find one for my Samsung that will hold and not fall off, fit the ram mount ball, and charge wireless.

I like the cradle for the phone. The mount it comes with, not so much. To much vibration. Look for iottie on Amazon/fleabay. You should find it easy enough.
