That is an Ipad mini in this photo. Feels super stable. Have not been offroad with it yet but works great for the speed bumps at the mall.

@Lostsheep was super cool and sent me a CAD file of his Ram mount so that I could have the exact curve to model and print a CB/ham mic hanger:

Bolts in to the middle and lower 1/4"-20 threads with 1/2" socket cap screws. Thought for sure I was gonna have to do a few revisions, but first version seems to work pretty well. Did driver and passenger versions. Solid as a rock.

Should have rounded off those top corners, though. And there's a little corner on the bottom that kind of protrudes a little.

Could probably have made it 1/16" or 3/32" thinner, was trying to make sure the socket cap had enough depth to sit flush.

Maybe I could have made it work with a button head, then the whole unit wouldn't have to be so thick. Guess I was concerned about the button head protruding out the front so much you wouldn't be able to get the mic button in there. Hmm.

    Love it.

Is that printed in ABS? What type of 3D printer did you use? I ask because the resolution looks really good.

Thanks! I'll put it up on Shapeways or something after I make a rev or two, maybe tomorrow.

Shapeways. I gotta get myself a printer at home... I'd make these little things all day on it.

To all who are interested, keep an eye on this thread and on the group buy forum. I’ve been instructed by the mods to move these over there and will be doing a run soon.

It was eight bucks to print something small like that, in their standard black. Takes a couple days to print and then a couple days to ship, cause I'm cheap and I don't want to pay for expedited anything. There's also an extra lead time for first-time prints, as they "validate" the model, whatever that involves.
