My sentiments exactly. Good to see they're in production, but for the same price I ended up going with the A pillar ram mount mod and installed a usb port below for less than $65 and I'm pleased with it. I may come back if the need arises.

A tad pricey, but keep in mind that includes two (an option to put one on either side or both). You can always sell the second one if you don't use it. I just put in an order, as I'm happy to support an effort to that comes up with a unique solution like this. That's essentially how these aftermarket companies get started that enable folk's many options to customize their rigs.
    Thanks again!

I just had to check myself. They're not. The holes are coutersunk either way. I only want to mount my driver side anyway, so you can call yours the "passenger" one.

so do you really need to fully pull apart your dash to install these? Can you not just drill in place without removing anything?

Nope, you gotta have the backing plates behind the plastic trim or else it won't hold ANY weight. It's super super easy to take the radio and ac controls out. It was my first time doing it on my truck and it came out perfect!

Anyone used these with a tablet? Im debating between these and the "Tech Deck" and these look alot cleaner. Buddy of mine questioned the weight of a tablet bouncing around off road so it got me thinking. Dont wanna crack my dash, even if im about to drill holes in it :anonymous:

I use the passenger side one in my rig to hold both a 10” tablet AND the control head for my ham radio. Not problems so far.

I use an iPad mini and have had no issues with it bouncing around or anything to make me worry about it. I'm sure you'll be fine.

Mine came in about a week. No tracking at all. Not even a confirmation email. It just showed up.

I can't guarantee that your dash will take this amount of weight for a prolonged period of time but what I can partially address this.

I've hung my 8.4" Samsung tablet off of the driver side on 2 extended offroad trips. You have to hang it so that the weight is trying to tighten the RAM ball or else the bouncing will loosen the thread. We did about 50 miles on dirt roads for the eclipse up in Oregon, about 60 miles in Utah through the Northern loop of Capitol Reef NP, (all offroad) followed by about 75 miles through Escalante Grand Staircase (again all offroad) and the mounts held with no cracking of the dash and the tablet didn't fall off or out once. It bounces a little but I don't think that is a bad thing because if nothing flexes then something will break. It also withstood 1800 miles of road-tripping miles but in my opinion that doesn't count as a real test.

I have a video from Escalante Grand Staircase taken exactly for this purpose, give me a minute to see if I can upload it.

I'm not sure why the quality is so bad but this kinda gets the point across.

FWIW, this was on a "Death Ridge" through Escalante Grand Staircase and was on a washboard road. I was probably running about 25-30mph, that being said my 6112's are the bees knees so that might have helped smooth out the ride.
