Could have burned of the fuel pump in the tank, maybe and hopefully is just air in the line and the line is air/vapor locked.
    Good luck.
    Welcome to TW

Welcome to the forum. If I were you I’d fill it up, crank it over for 10-15 seconds, stop then crank it over few times more and see if it starts.

Yeah, once you've let the tank run dry, it can be a real bitch to restart your engine. Like said no better way to fry a fuel pump....they live on gasoline to cool them.

Pump should prime from cycling the ignition. I would cycle it a few times leaving it on for just few seconds, don’t try and start it during this. Then try and crank it over.

I find it hard to believe people run out of gas this day in age.

Thanks for this comment! I SO wanted to ask the same thing! It just seemed to easy though, when the original poster said "ran out of gas now it won't start". He didn't say if he put gas in or not, so your comment was the obvious question! I laughed though, so thanks for making me smile this morning!

You have to blow in the muffler to purge the air.

Got back home on fumes. Like trying to die going up the driveway
Put 5 gallons in the tank, no go
Talked to a couple of mechanics and I swapped the fuel pump, no go
Just looking for anything else that might be the issue.
Thanks for the replies. it’s frustrating enough I might find a running one and suck on the muffler for a while and i might not care if the thing starts or not

Did you purge the air out of the fuel rail? I'm not sure the exact location on these engines, but there is usually a valve for that on the fuel rail. I believe it is a Schrader valve
