The easiest thing to try would be to get access to the throttle body and pour some gas into it. Not a lot, maybe just half a gallon. Then try cranking the engine so it'll prime the combustion chamber.

HALF A GALLON!!!.... dude, think how far half a gallon of gas gets you down the road.... Try a squirt of fuel from a can of starter fluid or a syringe

A coworker ran a diesel air compressor dry but it started right up once we added more fuel.

I had this happen once on a high-performance fuel-injected car. A couple of responders have mentioned it but it was air in the fuel line that had no place to go. I ended up loosening the hose clamp from the fuel line at the engine, cranking the engine to allow fuel to enter the line. This allowed the air to bleed out and the engine started right back up. Had me perplexed for quite a while.

Just another stupid idea but did you push it home?
My neighbor did something like that and it wouldn't restart after putting some gas in.
It was the fuel pump shutoff switch had tripped. The car thought it had been in a wreck.

Sounds like a great way to hydrolock the engine or have a backfire thru the intake with a raging inferno

Not a Taco, but my son had been buying gas at an independent station for his Accord, he ran the tank low (not empty) and car quit on him. The mechanic drained the water and crud out of the tank and refilled it at the local Shell. Runs fine now. The mechanic advised staying away from that station and a few Marathon staions because he had enough customers with the same issues.

I'm still trying to imagine just swapping out a fuel pump.

I’ve been using Shell for years with no issues. Mobil was my first choice on the east coast. My dog goes everywhere with me, and she would judge me for days if we pulled into a subpar gas station.

Same here, Shell only, for decades. Unfortunately I got to pay a little extra for the V-power since only their premium is Ethanol free!, but never ever (knock on woid) have I had fuel issues. I use premium even in the lawnmower :D!
