Considering that it's inside the freaking gas tank, I agree with you. Aren't there two fuel pumps on these - a low pressure and a high pressure? I know that when I had the fuel pump recall service they dropped the gas tank in order to get it out. Maybe the OP replaced the other one.

Has anyone considered that maybe the fuel pump cutoff switch was tripped as a result?

I use premium too. I remember seeing in the owner’s manual some verbiage about “as tested on 91 octane” well dammit I want as much performance as I can get. She eats well.

Same. BP or Mobil if Shell is not available. Some gas companies must have higher standards on underground tanks, etc. than others.

I carry my dog around too! Not judgy like yours. I can tell he isn't happy when I pass by a Citgo. Always gives me his righteous Socialist revolutionary glare.

This was suggested once before in this thread and is a pretty plausible explanation. It also might explain why we have not heard anything back from the OP on this.

Of course not. But I've heard all my life never to run a diesel engine dry or it won't start without repriming it.

The takeaway is that people often just don't know what actually happens or why.

To avoid hydro lock caused by the 1/2 gallon gas......try using LP from your BBQ grill.

Just aim the hose into the air filter, open the valve, crank the engine..........

I have never noticed any difference in gasses. The issue is the volume - a low volume station will have more sedentary shenanigans, sludge, etc. A high volume station, no matter what brand, will be a-okay. I hit stop and shop, exxon, mobil, whatever makes sense that day :notsure: never had an issue.

Because there's a long fuel line to the car engine from the car gas tank that is not there on a diesel generator.

Did he mention if he was a smoker? I am starting to think this thread might have a bleak conclusion. Worse yet, I may never know if my bad gas/ water in the tank was the correct diagnosis.

This. Might just be pressure locked.

After pouring a half gallon of fuel into the throttle body, there may be no more problems, ever.

I start looking to fill up when I get to 1/4 tank for two reasons. One to avoid ever running out of gas, and two because I'm a cheapskate and HATE seeing what the cost is when I run the tank close to empty.

If I need to drive 376 miles, then I need 18.7 gallons of fuel. Doesn't matter if the fuel is in the tank or at the pump. Cost will be the same about $0.14/mile.

Yea I realize the cost per mile is the same no matter what, but the other issue is the wife factor. She drives a 19 Prius that gets 57 MPG and puts gas in the thing with an eye dropper. Every time she's in the truck and I get gas with her, I get the " so, how much did THAT cost you?" routine. If I run the truck close to E the chit factor gets exponentially worse. I realize the obvious solution is to get gas when I'm by myself, but it's not always possible. Poor planning on my part.
