Seems like I'm not the only one with the mismatch. It looks good!

I have a Ranch Fusion on my 2012. I think 10 years old and still going strong. Latch still works great. Windows all still work. Screens all still good. No leaks. Couple idiot marks but doesn’t effect anything. I have a roof rack on it and I’ve had huuuuundreds of pounds up there and it was fine.

Only thing I would mention, and I don’t know if it was my truck or the cap, or if it’s intentional, but there was a small gap between the front of the bed and the shell. I just crammed an old pool noodle in there and all was well.

edit: quick 20 second search shows the 2nd gens have a gap there. Trucks fault.

I picked up a Ranch shell that was sitting around for my 2005 DCSB, but no clamps, guy didn't know details (not directly taken off a truck), there is a gap across the forward edge of the bed, wondering if I should pop off the plastic side rails and maybe it would eliminate the gap?

I would leave the caps on. Just wedge a pool noodle or a piece of pipe insulation in there and call it a day.
