Hello, as anyone purchase a rancho quick lift for their truck, I have been trying to replAce my old shocks w/springs and replacing them with the rancho ones, but ones I’m ready to install them, I can’t push down enough on the lower arm to be able to align the bottom portion of the shock with the piece that you put the pin thru to hold the shock. It just won’t go down more, do I need to uninstall something else? It supposed to be an easy install but I’m lost!

    Did you disconnect the swaybar?

disconnect the swaybar, and loosen the 2 bolts for the lower control arms - the ones for the alignment cams. Don't take them out, but loosen them just a bit. The rubber bushings bind up and it's difficult to push the suspension down enough for the new (longer) shocks to fit.

Once you get the suspension put back together, tighten the bolts again taking care not to move the alignment cams. It doesn't matter *that* much, since you should get an alignment after lifting it anyway.

EDIT: The other thing loosening the adjustment cam bolts does is essentially "resets" the neutral position of the bushings for your new ride height.

Because the rubber bushings rely on the rubber to flex/twist, rather than slide (like polyurethane bushings), you want the runner to be as "relaxed" as possible at normal ride height, but because you lifted it, the bushings will always be a little twisted at ride height unless you "reset" them as described.

I had the same issue with my bilsteins. Disconnect the swaybar, then have one person put a foot on the rotor and push down-hard. Like:muscleflexing:. While they are doing that the other guy slides the bolt in.

You can also place a bottle jack on the upper control arm and pump it up until you have enough room to slip in the bolt “after removing the sway-bar link”.

You could try the upper control arm, too...

But don't actually disconnect anything. Just loosen the bolts (1 for the UCA, and 2 cam adjuster bolts for the LCA), then it should move freely like butter.

I would do as the one guy said and loosen LCA cam bolts and NOT use bottle jack trick or have someone stand on hub.

Like he stated you dont want the oem rubber bushing binding at ride height. They will tear and rip when you start flexing her out.

Question, ones I put everything together I’m I going to have to torque the 2 lower control arm to a certain number?

[IMG] This is a good leverage spot with a 4 foot pry bar. sway bar disco is highly recommended.

    Good leverage spot, bad technique.

Loosen the bushing bolts to "reset" the bushings to the new (higher) neutral position.

You generally shouldn't have to "force" anything into position.

like everyone else said pretty much, disco the sway bar, brake line, and all u need to do is loosen your lower arms. ur gonna need an alignment either way so its okay just tighten back after. you can use a pry bar just make sure its on something solid. use a sturdy screwdriver or extension bit to turn the strut and align it right

Shocks are now installed so, success! Is it normal that my steering wheel is going crazy? Moving all kinds of directions, i know the alignment is necessary but is it normal that is moving like if My truck is drunk ?

I installed the Rancho quicklift on my truck last week. Did not take long to start getting compliments. The steering wheel definitely has a different feel, but it doesn't go crazy like you are describing. I did have the alignment doen immediately after installing. I also installed 1.5 inch blocks because the truck looked noticeably different in the front. I will post pictures after I'm done with the other mods I have planned.

Yeah it’s weird it feels like if I was almost driving on ice, if I let go of the steering wheel it will just turn all the way to one side. Due please let us see pictures, and what kind of blocks did you put on yours ?

I bought a set on Amazon from American Automotive for 60 bucks. I had to cut the U-bolts after running them up because they were so friggin long. The U-bolts were waaaay easier to get on then to get off. But the old boy is looking and riding like a champ. It sounds like your alignment is off a lot though if the steering wheel is pulling to one direction, hope you get it figured out.
