You need to get it aligned, and defineately make sure you tightened down all the bolts you loosened, too...

    How does it feel?

    Too soft? turn it up.

    Too hard? Turn it down.

Ride quality is totally subjective, you'll need to play around with it yourself and see how it feels.

Yeah, chances are whatever they told you, you'd try it and think it rode like crap then get all upset, lol. Not really, but you get the idea.

Back when I managed a bike shop, I'd get asked all sorts of questions about things like how high their seat should be, or how long their stem should be, what seat is the most comfortable, how many clicks of rebound and compression damping, etc... Most of the time, I would ask them more questions than they would ask of me. Some people couldn't get over the fact that I didn't immediately know the *exact* position their bike should be in. I'm the "expert" right?

You shouldn't *want* to speed up the process, though...

The best thing to do is control your variables. Pick a route with a bunch of different terrain if you can. Even if it's up and down a street with some pot holes and speed bumps or similar... Go for a lap or 2, then turn the dials 1 click. Repeat. Start all the way soft, or all the way hard, and go one click at a time. You'll feel it get "better", but don't stop there, that next click might be even better. If it gets worse, go back to the last setting and you're done. At least for now. The settings will likely vary depending on terrain, but doing your adjustments in a controlled environment will give you a better idea down the road, so to speak, about what changes you might want for different terrain.

You'll learn SOOOOOO much more about your vehicle doing it this (slow) way, than just telling you to set it at 6 clicks and be done with it...

@jbrandt I get what you are saying and I appreciate the advice. I will definitely do that, but it would still be nice to know what others are running.
