When i was leaving for work today one of the kids noticed a spring fall form under the backside of my 2007 Tacoma. I cant find anything about it anywhere. Its about 4 3/4 in tall and 3/4 in diameter and it can be compressed by hand. Anyone have an idea of what its from. 95730466_170689810904318_645995031580114_d685c450708a170251e521ee0f9481f722abf243.jpg

Spare tire? I believe there is a spring on the cable/chain that holds it up in place

Looks too clean and new to fall off an '07. I don't recall seeing any spring like that by '10.

I’ve never seen a spring like that on my 07’
    Looks in LIKE NEW condition.

Typically when I have things fall from under my truck.
It came from laying stuff on top of my tool box and opening the lid.
Stuff can roll off and go between the bed and the cab.
Or from the area of the tailgate. Screws and stuff can get stuck between the tailgate and bed when the gate is open. If you shut the tailgate it usually falls out on the rear bumper. Usually but not always.

I’m betting it was “a forgotten” object left by someone at some time.
